Bridge Wing Pickup Preamp (AVAILABLE FOR ORDER APRIL 16th, 2026)
Vic’s Bridge Wing Preamp
Quick Start: We recommend starting with your amp at a moderate volume and the preamp knobs at 12 o’clock. At this position, the unit outputs a safe signal level with approximately 6dB of attenuation on the mid knobs. Adjust the Red Knob first to set your output, then use the switches and EQ knobs to find the specific frequency control and tone you like.
Tone & Feedback Control
This single-channel preamp provides a clean, buffered signal via a TL072 preamp circuit. Its features are designed to manage feedback and to condition the signal of your upright bass pickup before hitting your bass amplifier.
Red Output Knob: Controls the master output gain on the top of the unit.
Polarity Switch: An instant feedback killer for loud stages; it changes how the pickup reacts to speaker sound waves.
70Hz High Pass Filter: A switch to cut out stage rumble and low-end boom.
Low Mid Knob (350Hz): Turning this clockwise reduces the "congested" or "boxy" frequencies that often cause low-end groaning.
High Mid Knob (1.5kHz): Reduces the "clacky" or "brittle" sound common with piezo pickups.
Note: This knob does not affect frequencies above 5kHz, preserving the natural presence and definition of the pickup.
Connectivity & Versatility
Input: Features a 1/4” input. While optimized for Vic's Bridge Wing pickups, it works with other designs, string types, and magnetic pickups. Adapters for 2.5mm micro-jacks are also available.
Bridge Wing Pickup Performance Tip: For the best tone, ensure your pickup has a snug fit in the bridge wing. If the fit is loose, a small shim or guitar pick can help find the "sweet spot." More information about this can be found on the pickup page.
